Bruce had this to say about working on Alice:

I had fun doing the episode, but hated the director and ultimately told her not to talk to me. Last year, I ran into some friends who were sitting with Linda Lavin, and I reminded her that I’d done the show. We laughed about it, and then I went back to my table. A little while later she waved me over and said, “Was I nice that week?”
