Bruce Says:
Never Say Never - a pilot for CBS that should have sold. It was created by the man who would just two years later create Cosby. It starred George Kennedy and Anne Schedeen - I played George's son, the third lead. It was a great cast and a wonderful show. It was between us and another pilot called Struck by Lightning (which, funnily enough, starred my pal Jeffrey Kramer). They bought the latter, rather foolishly (it was AWFUL), and it only ran four shows and then left the air. I really liked George Kennedy a lot - a very warm and generous man. To show you how it used to be in the TV business - I auditioned once, for the writer and the producer. They cast me immediately - I never had to read again, never had to meet the network people, never had to test. Those days are gone.
