From the album notes Bruce wrote:

I love writing songs that only be sung by women. I don't know why, but there you are. I wrote "When You're Waiting For Love" back in 1985 or so when I was Waiting For Love.  (I'm still Waiting For Love, so a lot of good this dong.) However, it didn't really seem interesting to write it in a male voice (who care about men who are Waiting For Love?) or even a non-gender specific voice (who care about non-gender specific people who are Waiting For Love?) It only felt right in a female voice. And so I now have a song I wrote that I cannot sing. Brilliant. Thank god for Lisa, who can sing and who was kind enough to include it on her album.
