The Cast of Characters
Bernard (Bruce Kimmel), who didn't want to be the
first one there, who walked around the volley ball courts twelve times to avoid
being the first one there, and who, naturally is the first one there.
Cynthia
(Randi Kallan), a bright, witty and extremely talented girl whom Bernard
immediately goes crazy for.
Janet
(Linden Wadell), a slightly overweight character type who longs to be the
leading lady type.
Rod
and Janet (Michael Byers & Suzanne St. Marie) who have been going steady
since high school, and who are going to live together, who love each other and
who spend every waking minute arguing.
Susan
(Colleen McLean), the shy introverted girl, petrified girl, who is going to
have a heart attack if they have to act the first day.
Stuart
(Sammy Williams), who is extremely anxious to make sure that they do
musicals at this school. Sammy is heard on the cast recording but does not
appear in the pictures below. The tall blonde guy replaced Sammy Williams seen
in the photos below is Ron Kurowski, who went on to play The Creature in The
Creature Wasn't Nice aka Spaceship, aka Naked Space.
Stuart
(Ron Kurowski) replaced Sammy Williams in the role during the run and is seen in
the photos below.
Karen
(M'Lisa MacLaren), a knockout, minus talent
Johnny
(Alan Abelew), who is trying to pick up every girl in sight by saying things
like, "Nice tits..."
Lorne
Roy Wayne (Phillip Clark), here to learn to act, but who really wants to do
cowboy pictures.
Achmed,
(Jeffrey Kramer) a foreign student, who is convinced he is a good actor, which
in fact he may be, except that no one can understand a word he says
Mr.
Wade (Edwin T. Morgan) the theater teacher.

Bruce
Kimmel has this to say about the show
Stages was
written to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Theater Arts Department at
LACC. It was very successful there, and we moved it to The Matrix theater on
Melrose, where it was sold out for three months. A cast album was released on
Varèse Sarabande. The original company included Tony-winner Sammy Williams and
a fellow named Phil Clark with whom I'd worked on the first TV show I ever
guest-starred in. Also featured was Jeffrey Kramer, who plays the deputy in
Jaws, and who is now a busy executive in show business (he was one of the Ally
McBeal producers).
