  • Because producer Norman Tokar wanted to provide as much realism as possible, he hired two writers who were in then in their early twenties to write the teleplay for the pilot.

  • The pilot of Young Love was incorporated into the final episode of Season Three of The Doris Day Show on 15 March 1971. New footage was shot with Doris Day and Meredith Baxter where in flashback she recounts what happened to her and footage from the pilot was used.

  • Since the pilot running time of the pilot was 29 minutes footage was cut from it to fit in the 24 minutes of running time for The Doris Day Show (including opening and closing credits)
  • When it was edited down for the Doris Day Show the parts played by Leo Fuchs and Judy Courson were eliminated

  • Although it is quite evident that April is walking in Westwood area of Los Angeles; when it came time to visit her Aunt Doris in The Doris Day Show, she really had a long walk. As Doris Day's character lived in San Francisco!

  • Although it was filmed in early 1971 it aired three years later without any Doris Day footage. It also edited for broadcast to fit the running time with commercials.
