- Because producer Norman Tokar wanted to provide as
much realism as possible, he hired two writers who were
in then in their early twenties to write the teleplay
for the pilot.

The
pilot of Young Love was incorporated into the final
episode of Season Three of The Doris Day Show on 15
March 1971. New footage was shot with Doris Day and
Meredith Baxter where in flashback she recounts what
happened to her and footage from the pilot was used.
- Since the pilot running time of the pilot was 29
minutes footage was cut from it to fit in the 24 minutes
of running time for The Doris Day Show (including
opening and closing credits)
- When it was edited down for the Doris Day Show the
parts played by Leo Fuchs and Judy Courson were
eliminated
- Although it is quite evident that April is walking
in Westwood area of Los Angeles; when it came time to
visit her Aunt Doris in The Doris Day Show, she really
had a long walk. As Doris Day's character lived in San
Francisco!
- Although it was filmed in early 1971 it aired three
years later without any Doris Day footage. It also
edited for broadcast to fit the running time with
commercials.
